I learned a long time ago, when we are reildeomng or refurbishing a home, that my husband isn’t willing to compromise, if he can’t see it. I keep an idea book, so that when I’m describing my ideas to him with my feminine words, like taupe,(it isn’t in his vocabulary, only brown; light, medium,or dark)or a sliding door to hide the washer/dryer, or the style of sculptured carpeting I would like, he can see what I’m talking about. He’s more likely to compromise if I can give him a selection to choose from in my notebook of ideas. Now, if I could just get him to keep the upper cabinets at code, he’s 6’6″, I’m 5’2″, I wouldn’t need a step-stool to reach the 3rd shelf. By the time, we do another, he might have become tired of me asking him to reach everything on the top shelves or maybe I can convince him a wall of windows where the upper cabinets are now would be a great thing, then I could see my backyard and all the dishes would be underneath the counters. Hum, I think I’ll start getting my idea book all ready for that discussion. 🙂 Great story, I so relate.
